|After the fall of Voldemort, arguably the darkest wizard of all time, in 1998, the wizarding world experienced a period of unprecedented peace and prosperity. Under the guidance of Minister Shacklebolt, the Ministry cleaned itself up and made drastic changes to provide transparency and make sure that anti-muggle and muggleborn sentiments never again found a foothold in British wizarding society. |
Life improved--or went back to normal--for most. Minister Shacklebolt left office nearly 20 years later with an incredibly high approval rating, and was replaced by war hero Hermione Granger-Weasley in 2017. But just as happens in every society, political ideals began to swing away from the more liberal, fair-minded policies of the Shacklebolt administration, and dissention steeped back in. When a global recession slowed the muggle economies of the world, the wizarding world was not spared its effects.
Many on the Wizengamot had been there for decades, long before the progressive Ministers of late, and it became more difficult for Minister Weasley to pass her legislation and continue the progress. Stagnated, she lost the 2024 election to conservative Terence Higgs, who began changing policies made by Ministers Weasley and Shacklebolt.
By 2035, many wizards are out of work, shops have closed, money is tight, and the people are looking for someone to blame. A dark figure is on the rise, claiming to be by the people, for the people. But will the hero they get really be the one they need?
